The Clinical Research Associate/Assistant (CRA) is a rewarding professional working in academic hospitals and contract research organizations. The CRAs are hired as permanent full-time, part-time or in flexible contract positions. The job responsibilities include clinical trial protocol reviews, regulatory documentation, obtaining informed consents, and filing case report forms. The career can lead to other careers in the field of healthcare.
The Canadian College of Healthcare and Pharmaceutics (CCHAP) is registered as a Career College under the Ontario Career College Act, 2005. The Clinical Research Certificate program is registered with the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU).
The vocational program enables the professionals to work as clinical research assistants and coordinators in the academic hospital settings whereas aim for clinical research associate positions in the contract research organizations (CROs).
A post-secondary student completing a grade-12 education in Canada or elsewhere can become a clinical research assistant with a program specializing in clinical research.
The essential admission criteria are following:
- Grade 12 (OSSD) or mature student status. Mature student status means 18 years or older and attaining a minimum passing score of 18 or higher on the Wonderlic SLE (Scholastic Level Exam).
- All foreign credentials must be translated into English and compared for Grade 12 equivalency by a recognized organization (i.e. WES)
The preferred criteria to be considered for the program are undergraduate in STEM fields with interest in clinical research as well as internationally trained health professionals with two or more years of education.

Please note that this program does not require a study permit as it can be completed under 6 months.
The total program duration is 540 hours and can be completed in weeks ranging from 22 weeks to 47 weeks. There are no placements in this course.

- Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care (10 hours)
- Clinical Placement (Facility) (200 hours)
- Clinical Placement (Community) (100 hours)
The NACC 2022 PSW Certificate program is also offered as hybrid program. For the hybrid version of the program, from the total 400 hours of theory classes usually delivered at 20 hours per week or 20 weeks, about 41 hours will be in-person (or 2 weeks). Rest of the program will be delivered as synchronous program.
The clinical and community placements that are 300 hours (10-11 weeks @30 hours per week) are in-person.

The NACC 2022 PSW Certificate program is accredited by the National Association of Career Colleges.
